Abstract

Rude speech behavior in early childhood is a phenomenon that is increasingly concerning and has a negative impact on children's social emotional development. Parenting patterns play a crucial role in shaping children's behavior, including how they communicate. This researcher used a qualitative approach involving parents and early childhood children who exhibit rude speech behavior. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results of the study showed that permissive and authoritarian parenting patterns tend to correlate with the emergence of rude speech behavior in children. Parents with permissive parenting patterns tend to provide less clear and consistent boundaries so that children do not understand the consequences of rude speech. Conversely, authoritarian parenting patterns with an emphasis on verbal and physical punishment can trigger children to imitate rude behavior as a form of expression or self-defense. The implications of this study highlight the importance of education for parents regarding positive and responsive parenting patterns and effective communication skills training. It is hoped that with a better understanding of the role of parenting patterns, parents can create an environment that is conducive to positive language development and reduce the relevance of rude speech behavior in early childhood.
