the concept of AlmsAbstract
The Ulama decreed that the law of alms was sunnah. Basically alms can be given to and anywhere without being bound by time and place. But there are certain times and places that are preferred, which are more recommended during the month of Ramadan. The most important asset to be distributed is the advantages of the business and property for daily needs. One of the hadiths which explain alms is "If the child of Adam dies, break his charity except for three things, namely sodaqoh jariyah, teaching and disseminating the knowledge he uses for others, and children (both men and women) who pray for him". (HR. Muslim).
If the item has a joint status or someone else's status, then the object is not valid for giving because the exempted item must be based on the sincerity and willingness of the owner. Circumcised for people who have debt not to give alms. It's better for him to pay the debt. According to the Hanafiyah cleric, almsgiving with illicit property Qath'i, such as carcasses or the results used to build a mosque with the hope of getting a reward or being halal is kufr because asking halal from an immorality is kufr. In Islam alms has a broad meaning not only in the form of material but includes all good both physical and non-physical. Alms has a high social value. People who give charity sincerely not only get merit but also have good social relations.
