Moderation in a religious context can be understood as a perspective, attitude and behavior that always takes a middle position, always acts fairly and is not extreme in religion, avoiding excesses in religion. This research aims to find out in depth the process of instilling the value of religious moderation, especially attitudes of tolerance between fellow students through Islamic religious learning carried out at SMPN 4 Metro. This research also answers the following research questions: 1) What is the process of instilling the value of religious moderation (tasammuh) through Islamic religious learning at SMP Negeri 4 Metro? and 2) What are the obstacles faced in increasing tolerance ? This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection methods through interviews, field observations and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. To test the validity of the data, researchers used triangulation techniques. Informants in this research included school principals, PAI teachers and students.
