Multicultural education is an education system in Indonesia that has been implemented since the era of Ki Hajar Dewantara. This system has the potential to eliminate differences in views regarding race, religion, ethnicity, culture, language, and so on if implemented optimally. However, in various cases in Indonesia, intolerance often triggers these problems. Through multicultural education, it is hoped that a deep understanding of the importance of tolerance will be created. This research was conducted using the literature study method by referring to various library sources, including books, journals, websites and other references. The type of research used is qualitative, where the focus of the study is narrower but carried out in depth. The author emphasizes that tolerance is an attitude of respect and respect for other people, while multicultural education focuses on character formation. In particular, the application of tolerance through multiculturalism-based learning aims to provide meaningful experiences to students from various backgrounds.
